The SCOA junior squad took part in the Junior Inter-regional Competition at Sandringham, Norfolk on 23rd and 24th June 2012.
The highlight of the weekend for the squad was the relay win by the girls’ team. The relay team of Katie Blackford (BADO), Fiona Bunn (TVOC) and Tamsin Moran (SOC) beat the North West Junior squad by 4 seconds to take the squad’s first ever relay win. Scotland were third, 9 seconds behind SCJS. As you can see from this photo of the relay team on the run in, they were very pleased with the win.

During the individual races there were excellent performances from Dane Blomquist (BAOC) – 2nd on M18 (he was running up as well), Fiona – 2nd on W14 and Tamsin – 4th on W18. We took a team of 17 juniors to the JIRCS this year, with many of them competing at their first JIRCS and also quite a few running up a class. They all enjoyed themselves, despite the high undergrowth and rain.
Overall the SCOA girls finished third, behind Scotland and the North West, but ahead of Yorkshire. The Boys’ team finished ninth. Overall we were 6th, the same position as last year.
