Maintaining details for SCOA Committee members

The list of members of the SCOA Committee on the Committee page is maintained by updating the user details for those members. Any user whose roles include the SCOA Committee role will be listed on the Committee page.The details displayed are taken from extra information that is held for those members. The members cannot edit this information themselves, this can only be done by those who have the ability to create or update users on the web site.

Editing details of an existing user (or cancelling their account)

First determine the user that you want to edit.

In the Navigation box on the bottom right of the screen, press the List of users for editing link. This will bring up a list of users for editing (may be on mutiple pages, you can filter it by role. Select the user that you want to edit and press the Edit link at the end of the row with their name on.

How to create a new user

You can create members of the server with certain privileges. Please do this with care, since some of the user roles that you can create can seriously damage the web site!

The following steps allow you to create a new user:

In the Navigation menu on the lower right of the screen press the Create New User link.

A dialog will open with details of the new user to enter. The following details should be entered in the fields:

Uploading your own pictures to the server for display

Using this method, you can upload a picture that you've taken to the web site and display it directly from here.

Content Guidelines: To upload a picture on the website, it must be in .JPG or .PNG format, be no larger than 1MB in soze and the longest side of the picture must be no more than 2000 pixels long. If you don't know what these mean or if you find this too restrictive, please contact the webmaster.

Once you have your picture within these restrictions, proceed using the following steps:

Displaying a picture held on the Flickr photo-sharing web site

Many people, including several prominent UK orienteering photographers, hold and show pictures on Flickr, the popular image hosting web site. There is a special way of displaying pictures held on Flickr, since Flickr's Terms of Service include the provision that all images shown from Flickr must refer back to Flickr.

You can add an image from Flickr by determining it's unique picture number. To find this, display the picture you want on Flickr. Look at the address bar above the picture - it will be something like
