SCOA League 2005-06
The new SCOA League season gets underway on 4th September with SOC's District event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park. This year we are introducing a club trophy element to the League and mid-season awards for individuals. The club competition will feature an 'open' and a 'handicap' element so small clubs can compete against the big ones. The mid-season awards for individuals will be based on performances in the first, middle and last section of the season. Although the details are still being finalised, the more events you do, and the more of you who compete for your club, the greater your chance of success.
The prestigious, handcrafted prizes for last season's League will be presented at one of the League events early in the new season. Come along to SOC's event for further details…
SCOA Junior Squad
The SCOA Junior Squad is looking for new members. The only requirement is that the junior [about 11 to 18 years] is at least of about orange colour coded standard, with a desire to improve. The squad is focussed on coaching activities that improve SCOA juniors' technical orienteering capabilities [rather than physical fitness].
The junior squad carries out training events approximately once a month on a Saturday [1000 to 1500 hrs] and participates in regional junior squad events two or three times per year. Once a year the squad has training weekends in places such as the New Forest or South Wales, usually associated with a local Sunday event. The first training event is planned for Saturday, 24th September 2005, and the squad is also organising the SCOA Score Championships on Sunday, 2nd October 2005.
